Pokémon the Movie: Secrets of the Jungle―Another Beginning (Pokémon the Movie (manga))

Pokemon the Movie: Secrets of the Jungle- Another Beginning is the prequel story to the movie Pokemon the Movie: Secrets of the Jungle found on online streaming sites. In the prequel, the reader learns of Koko’s beginning in the world of the Pokemon and how he discovers his true self in the midst of seeming lies. Mysteriously sent to the jungle teeming with Pokemon, baby Koko is rescued by the Mythical Pokemon Zarude who sacrifices his place in his tribe for the sake of the safety of this newfound human child when the other Zarude want nothing to do with it. Zarude raises Koko as his own child but Koko realizes at a young age that he’s different, but can’t figure out why. Then a group of Pokemon comes to attack and that’s a whole other problem to fix.
While reading, I caught similar themes to the movie Tarzan, but also strong themes of dedication in the face of adversity and perseverance. I watched the full movie after reading the book and noticed that the themes stay true throughout. Whether you’re a fan or expert with Pokemon, the story is entertaining, exciting, and a quick read to get your Pokemon fix!
