Pathfinder Tales: Liar’s Bargain: A Novel
Opportunity-seeking adventurer Rodrick and his magical, sentient ice sword Hrym have found themselves in the nation of Lastwall, where their thievery led to them being forced into service for the crusaders. Now, along with a bizarre band of other criminals, they do the bidding of their higher-ups, because they will be murdered by powerful magic if they do not. But when other members of their group seek an early freedom, the situation quickly spirals out of control. Rodrick and Hrym find themselves facing a powerful undead opponent.
This addition to the Pathfinder Tales library adds a new story about con men Rodrick and Hrym, and it’s every bit as delightful as the previous stories about them. Liar’s Bargain has a fun, stand-alone plot–readers who have not read author Tim Pratt’s previous books, and even readers who know nothing about the Pathfinder game in which the stories are based, will still be able to thoroughly enjoy this novel. Rodrick, with his chaotic neutral tendencies, is an engaging protagonist, while dragon-spirited Hrym adds an element of avaricious unpredictability. This is a fun story sure to be enjoyed by any lover of fantasy books.
