Over Your Dead Body
The Withered live throughout the world, finding a niche they can fill and people on which they can feed. They are thousands of years old and have traded their lives for immortality, but not necessarily morality. John and Brooke have broken ties with their team of FBI agents, therapists and assassins to search for and assassinate the Withered on their own. They know they are better off alone, because then the law can’t restrict what they need to do. Using Brooke’s memories of other Withered in the world, they search for one in the small town of Dillon, Oklahoma, where trouble doesn’t actually start until they show up. Now there are dead bodies piling up, Brooke’s multiple personalities are tearing her apart, and John can’t help but believe he may be the cause of it all.
This is the fifth book in Wells’ John Cleaver series, and each one just keeps getting better. It is an intriguingly fabulous mix of serial killer horror, supernatural beings, and dark humor. Though the next book does not have a release date, rest assured that John Wayne Cleaver’s sinister adventures continue – while waiting, pick up the first four and catch up.
