Out of the Clear Blue Sky
Lillie’s marriage to her husband Brad is over, and no one is more shocked than Lillie. After finding out that Brad was unfaithful while her only son is heading off to college, Lillie is more than a bit out of sorts. She gets her revenge but then grows in unexpected ways as she becomes accustomed to her new solo life.
I’ve read a few novels by Kristan Higgins, and I’m never disappointed. Out of the Clear Blue Sky stays true to my expectations of the author, and I was drawn in just pages into the novel. This book is laugh-out-loud funny, with more serious scenes throughout. It had me rooting for Lillie and absolutely hating her cheating ex-husband. Melissa grew on me as the novel progressed, and even her shallowness made me chuckle. I love that Higgins creates characters that are so fun to follow and also creates stories that are easy to be swept up in. This is the perfect summer read, or really for any time that you want to read an unputdownable novel! Readers should note that there are some triggering events (miscarriage, sexual assault, and a traumatic car accident).
