A family is headed to the zoo: there’s mom, a young daughter, and twin toddlers in their double-wide stroller. The daughter isn’t too happy to be stuck with her younger, very loud siblings. She goes on the Monkey Walk, a special attraction, but soon gets bored and starts playing a video game. Then something takes her hat, then her video game. The mysterious animal, who may be many animals, wants the girl to bring bananas and some penguins to the Monkey Walk for company. In return, she will get her hat and video game back.

This is a darling story that is told through pictures with no words. It’s not completely apparent whether it’s a sister with two younger brothers, or a brother with two younger sisters, or some other combination, so any reader can certainly relate. It’s a story that is never predictable, and it’s not until the very end that the reader knows what it’s all for. This is a great book for parents to read with their children, and even for a child to read on their own. The artwork is colorful and lively, with a diverse variety of people and animals providing fruitful education for the reader. Monkey Walk is a great, fun story that can be read over and over by everyone.
