Mercy Creek: A Jo Wyatt Mystery
Mercy Creek is another great mystery starring Detective Jo Wyatt. An eleven-year-old girl goes missing and it is up to Jo to retrace the girl’s last steps. Lena is a good girl who lives with her father Lucero and loves tending to animals and showing them at the local fair. Marisa, Lena’s older sister, is the complete opposite of Lena and lives with their mother, Tilda, a hardworking nurse. Marisa is all about makeup and clothes and being an influencer on social media. Jo works with her crew to review video footage of when Lena was last seen. After interviewing many shady characters including a parolee and a carney, what Jo finds is absolutely shocking.
This book has an excellent cast of characters. I felt that any one of them could have been guilty of the crimes in this book. The setting of a small town is perfect as it allows the reader to see the relationships between each of the characters. Greed, anger, and feelings of despair are all themes throughout this book of a night gone wrong. Jo Wyatt is in top form as she finds herself in dangerous positions. A must-read for fans of detective crime novels.
