Manga Classics: Hamlet (Modern English Edition)
The King of Denmark is dead and seeking revenge from his grave. Hamlet, his son, is inconsolable, full of shame and anger until his father returns from the grave to speak to him about what happened on the fateful day of his death. Hamlet slowly descends into madness, but in his moments of clarity, he plans his revenge, setting off a chain reaction that could lead to the fall of all those close to Hamlet and Denmark.
If you can’t understand Shakespeare, you’re not alone. The modern English version is much easier to understand, and in the manga form, the characters are brought to life straight from the pages. All the characters are uniquely drawn, so they’re not easy to confuse, but any time I did there’s a handy reference page at the front. Unfortunately, some of the art is overly dramatic, giving the characters ridiculous expressions that border on the comical.
