Little Green Men–Attack!

Little Green Men–Attack! from editors Robin Wayne Bailey and Bryan Thomas Schmidt contains a plethora of stories about visitors from other planets. It would have been nice to have had a historical treatment of the “Little Green Men” as a scientific trope and phenomena, why they can sometimes disappear at will, can be psychic, and when they first arrived.

These are all new stories from 2017 and some of the aliens are not little and green. They also are not the environmentalists we need now. Some are little green women, if you wondered about them. The stories are accessible and provide whimsy as expected.

This anthology is dedicated to some funny science fiction writers rather than the ones known to be profound. Frederick Brown, Robert Sheckley, and William Tenn, who editor Bailey called “The Terrible Trio” have not made it into The Science Fiction Hall of Fame, but it would have been nice to read stories by them. Stories by James E. Gunn, who did make it into The Science Fiction Hall of Fame, and Grand Master Robert Silverberg are included. Some other stars present are Kristine Kathryn Rusch, Esther M. Friesner, Jody Lynn Nye, Mike Resnick, and Allen Steele.
