There’s something magical about this story of Little Banty Chicken and the Big Dream. It’s purpose is to encourage children to dream, for only when they do, can great things happen. The story quietly calls readers to dream. Little Banty Chicken tells the moon of her dream of hosting a big celebration for the farmers and their family. “One night, Moon said, ‘Little Banty, if you want to make your dream come true, you should share it with others.’” She thinks of squirrel. She needs Moon’s help, so she invites squirrel to join her in the field the next night. Little Banty looked to Moon for courage, and shared her dream with squirrel. Squirrel loved it and offered to bring hazelnuts. She suggested they invite cow. Soon many animals were invited, each offering to bring something for the celebration.

Most all scenes are at night, yet the loose, colorful illustrations are cheerful and reassuring, dreamlike in appearance. A quiet story to ensure a good night’s sleep.
