Later
Jamie Conklin possesses an ability; some would call it a gift, but he would call it a righteous burden. At four years old, Jamie viewed the aftermath of a traffic accident in New York City. The soul of the recently deceased victim waved to young Jamie. Jamie was terrified, but his mother viewed it as a frightfully vivid imagination. Two years later, Jamie and his mom visited a family friend who had recently lost his wife. As the man recounted his woes, Jamie struck up a conversation with the deceased missus. She revealed the location of important jewelry to Jamie. Jamie told his mother, who hinted to the new widower where he couldfind the jewelry. As Jamie grows, his ability never wavers. His mother needs him when the ability to commune with a spirit could save the family business. However, she may have just opened Pandora’s box. Later is the latest from the “Master of Horror and Suspense,” Stephen King. Once you pick up this book, putting it down will be near impossible. The action and dialogue interspersed with spine-chilling terror are engaging from beginning to end. It is a superb addition to the seemingly endless bibliography of this great storyteller.
