Lady Claire Is All That: Keeping Up with the Cavendishes
This is book three in the Keeping Up with the Cavendishes series by Maya Rodale, but it can easily be read as a standalone. Claire is an American who is seeking a man who shares her passion for mathematics. Upon learning the mathematically brilliant duke she had set her eyes on is now married, she finds herself in odd company with Lord Fox, who is self-admittedly more brawn than brains. However, sparks are soon flying between the two, and both may just realize opposites indeed do attract.
Maya Rodale has a style of writing that is engaging, fun, and makes for quick reading; however, the hero in this romantic romp is a little too much brawn and too little brains for my tastes. While the chemistry between Claire and Fox is sizzling, other than Fox being kind and taking Claire around to mathematical discussions, it was hard to believe she fell for him beyond the physical gratification he provides. It would have been nice to see Fox have a little more going on intellectually so the romance would be more believable. In spite of that, Rodale’s writing style is engaging and will have you wanting to read the other Cavendishes stories.
