Kingfisher Readers L2: Amazing Animal Senses (Kingfisher Readers. Level 2)
Children are absolutely fascinated by animals. They will ask question after question about every animal under the sun. How do snakes smell things? Where are snails’ eyes? How can bats fly in the dark? What could be better than to give emerging readers a really good book about animals that they can read on their own and that will answer many of their questions? Kingfisher Readers has just such a book and youngsters are going to want to read every page and then read it again and again. The variety of animals covered in this little book is great. The photographs are spectacular as well as beautiful with many super close-ups. There are also some photos with drawings on them to help little ones understand the process of how senses work. The sentences are short enough not to frustrate emerging readers, but complex enough to keep them interested. The vocabulary is the right level with some challenge words youngsters can sound out or decipher with contextual clues. As with all the Kingfisher Readers books, they are high interest with the perfect amount of text for their young reading audience. This is a winner.
