Amelia Kelly and her family, along with her sister-in-law’s family, the Lees, have just arrived on an island off the coast of Australia when a nearby volcano erupts, resulting in a tsunami that leaves them stranded with only two caretakers. Amelia had been waiting for her boyfriend to arrive, but there is no way to get to the island. And that’s if, indeed, he ever intended to show up.

Amelia’s sister Matty and her wife Parker are in the process of relocating from New York to Sydney, but is that what they really want? To give up the lives they pursued in the bustling Big Apple? And Amelia’s parents have a few issues of their own. Over the course of a few weeks, secrets will be revealed that may change the lives of all those stranded in paradise.

Island Time is a fun read full of family drama, relationships, adventure, and self-discovery. I didn’t, however, think the group had as many hardships as anticipated, since food seemed abundant and the internet worked perfectly. But I loved that each character had an engaging story to tell. Overall, this tale was filled with beautiful imagery of the landscape and local culture, making it feel like I was also on the island.
