In the Heart of the Highlander (A Ladies Unlaced Novel)
Mary Evensong wasn’t born into a life of luxury or privilege, but she does have a rather interesting life masquerading as an elderly woman running the Evensong Agency for her aunt, finding housemaids and husbands where they are needed. Her life gets even more colorful when the dangerous, reputed murderer Lord Alec Raeburn comes to the agency with a unique request. Raeburn needs a woman. More so, he needs an actress to seduce the man he believes killed his wife so that he can destroy the man’s reputation. She knows just the lass for the job—herself—and heads to the highlands for a covert operation.
Chemistry flies, danger ensues, and Mary finds herself a whole lot deeper in the plot than she ever intended. Mary discovers there’s more to this job than any in the past. She’s in mortal danger and also risks losing her heart. What more could a story need?
This was the first Maggie Robinson romance I’ve read and I can’t wait to read another. The writing was lovely and light and the characters were totally unique and fun too. Brava!
