How to Catch the Easter Bunny
How to Catch the Easter Bunny by Adam Wallace brings readers on a rollicking adventure chasing the Easter Bunny as he delivers his eggs. However, there is not much set up for the premise of the book, which is that children will try to capture the Easter Bunny when he visits their homes, and the story jumps straight from introducing “E.B.” to explaining what the first trap is. Parents reading the book with their children may have to do some contextualizing to explain what the story will be about. While the text rhymes, it does not really scan, making the rhythm hard to break into. Once the story gets moving, however, the plot is fun and fast-paced as E.B. avoids a plethora of increasingly creative traps and ultimately sends the reader a personal Easter message. Boldly colorful illustrations by Andy Elkerton bring the story to life and convey the excitement of a bright Easter morning. This is a story that will amp up any reader’s anticipation to celebrate Easter.
