Hottest Heads of State: Volume One: The American Presidents
Okay, first things first. It hurts your credibility to call any book Hottest Heads of State if you’re going to feature John Adams or John Quincy Adams in any capacity. Fact.
That being said, Hottest Heads of State: Volume One: The American Presidents is great fun.
Essentially, the authors are playing Hot or Not: Presidents Edition, grading the various former commanders-in-chief on appearance, demeanor, and accomplishments and then providing a guidebook for how to ingratiate yourself to each one, if you so desire.
Shamelessly punny and delightfully goofy, this book delves into each presidency, exploring scandals, extramarital affairs, and even unearthing photos of many of the presidents in their younger, handsomer days. This is like Tiger Beat for the Washington set, if Tiger Beat was hilarious and much, much longer.
Hottest Heads of State is tongue-in-cheek in its savagery, never taking the high road but also never going too ugly in its jokes. Even Trump walks away relatively unscathed here.
Loaded with rich detail — some of it even correct and properly researched! — this is a hilarious history book in the grand tradition of Dave Barry Slept Here, just with more colorbursts and random trivia.
