Hell, Incorporated
If you went wild over Jeff Folschinsky’s Mr. Jacobs vs. the Demonic Clowns from the Great Beyond>, then you will love his new book Hell, Incorporated. In this book, a man and woman who are having trouble with their daughter hire men in black robes to exorcise a Satan-like demon from her. The exorcism is completed in a very different manner—suffocation. The demon disappears, however, the daughter dies in the process. The reader is then introduced to a young man named Max and his boss, Dominic. Max is starting a new job at Ninth Gate Incorporated working for demons. Dominic is quirky, to say the least, and keeps calling him Marv. Max knows something is amiss about this place but he goes along for the ride.
This book was nutty, zany, silly, and at times I felt like I was in a show crazier than The Twilight Zone. This is the type of story you hold on to and don’t let go as it will take you on a wild ride. Don’t question anything. Just go with it. Readers will laugh as Dominic drags Max all over the place to do weird things. In one scene, the blow-up characters at a car dealership come to life and try to kill Max and Dominic. Dominic decides to simply unplug the characters. This book has a lot of slapstick humor and the dialogue is written in a way that readers can envision the characters bantering back and forth. There was a part that involved poop and vomit that was quite gross and graphic, however if you like that type of “guy-humor” you won’t blink an eye at this part. As a mom of three boys, it really didn’t bother me too much.
Hell, Incorporated does a fantastic job of creating a world that has monsters and demons who are more funny than scary. I love how Miss Lydia from Mr. Jacobs vs. the Demonic Clowns from the Great Beyond> has a cameo in the book Hell, Incorporated is a book that is both humorous and adventurous. The characters will make you roll your eyes and laugh in each scene. I recommend this book to anyone who is not too squeamish about bodily fluids or demons. If you can get past those two things, you will find this book amusing and entertaining from cover to cover.
