God Moments: Unexpected Encounters in the Ordinary
Andy Otto studied as a Jesuit before discerning that he should pursue married life. As a result, this book is written with the intellect of a Jesuit and the heart of a married man who has found his perfect partner. Personal anecdotes are sprinkled throughout the book, which paint a fascinating and likeable portrait of the writer while also serving to illustrate the concepts presented in the book.
If you’ve ever wondered about Ignatian spirituality, this book will give you a taste. Otto says, “The Incarnation is the foundation of Ignatian spirituality.” He spends the rest of book trying to help the reader to be able to discover the “God with skin” in every moment, every aspect of daily life.
Although the concept may seem too deeply philosophical to grasp, Otto does a fantastic job of clearly explaining with practical examples and advice to help the reader achieve a full relationship with God throughout the course of the day. Otto shows how prayer can become a constant conversation with God.
Chapters are brief and broken up into sections for easily digestible chunks of good information.
This book is a fine choice for anyone who is struggling to see God active in their lives.
