Fairy Tale Pets
Bob and his purple dog, Rex, live in a nice house on top of a hill. It’s a great house, but they are very poor. Bob decides he has to get a job. As they walk through the town, Bob notices that most of the people have pets, and Bob likes animals. He decides it would be a great job to take care of pets. He and Rex put posters up all over town offering their services as pet sitters. Soon a little blond girl knocks on their door and drops off her pet baby bear. Bob never thought they would get a bear. He thought they’d only have bunnies and hamsters. Other fairy tale characters show up with other wild pets and leave Bob and Rex with real problems. Bob finally decides he needs to get into another business, and it’s a nice twist kids will get a kick from.
Tracey Corderoy has written a very fun text with lots of fun surprises for very young listeners. The clever illustrations by Jorge Martin are a great completion for Corderoy’s story. It’s a great read-aloud book and will help kids learn to make connections to other stories.
