Fabulous Modern Cookies: Lessons in Better Baking for Next-Generation Treats
If there is one thing I love, it’s a cookie. A warm, delicious, right out of the oven cookie. In Chris Taylor and Paul Arguin’s book Fabulous Modern Cookies, the authors share with their readers the magic they use to create some of the most delectable treats ever. As they state in the introduction, “Cookies are for making friends.”
Bakers of all caliber will love this book that not only has amazing recipes such as Escapes (The Pina Colada Oatmeal Cookie) and Jelly Doughnut Dimples but also teaches about how to alter the recipes to the baker’s satisfaction. It includes tips such as how to remove some of the sugar in a recipe without sacrificing flavor to how to make a recipe gluten-free. Personally, I love the fact that all of the cookies have different personalities. There are serious, more adult cookies such as the Grapefruit and Pistachio Stained Slices and Fig and Maple Nut Slices, as well as fun party cookies such as Loopy Fruit Rings and Frito Pie Cheese Coins. There is also a savory section! Includes beautiful color photographs and measurements in both volume and weight. The perfect book for any baker!
