Fabulous F Words of Business Ownership is a must-read for anyone who is looking to start a business or is currently running his or her own business. Fabi Preslar does a wonderful job breaking down the F-words and explaining her personal and professional opinions. While reading her book, there were several times I wanted to exclaim “me, too!” or “I know that feeling!” One of the main points Fabi makes is that a business owner must believe in himself or herself and must get up and go even after failing. F-words, such as fear, frozen, focus, and, of course, failure, connect to a feeling of helplessness when an entrepreneur makes the wrong move or decision, he or she ends up feeling stuck. Fabi’s inspiring words help the reader realize that she or he is not the only one who has gone through these feelings.

Unlike some other business self-help books, Fabi does not preach to her readers to do this or that, but instead, she gives guided bullet points enhanced by incredible real-life stories to help her readers engage with each chapter. The end of each chapter provides the reader with “Full Circle: Framing Your Story” questions for the reader to answer about his or her own life or business. The questions help the reader integrate the information that Fabi has given throughout the chapter into his or her own story.

One of the chapters is even about sleep and fatigue. “Fatigue” is a well-known word to the hardworking businessperson. When working on something as important as a business, it is often easy to lose track of time. One thing leads to another, and all of a sudden it’s midnight—almost time to wake up and do it all over again. Fabi’s chapter on fatigue emphasizes the need for sleep. She tells the reader about her super-productive friend, Bonnie, whom she finds out sleeps eight hours a night and takes a nap on weekends. Packing a full day of work into sixteen hours sounds almost impossible for the grinding entrepreneur, yet Fabi explains that we are even more productive when we are well-rested. Self-care, recharging, and having quiet time are all crucial factors to our productivity.

Overall, this book was a fast and easy-to-read guide for business owners or business owner wannabes. Fabi is transparent in sharing her trials and tribulations; she does a great job of explaining each one of the F Words.
