Enola Holmes and the Elegant Escapade (Enola Holmes Mysteries)
Enola has finally broken free from her brothers and now lives independently in London and takes classes at the Women’s College. When terrible news that her friend, Lady Cecily Alastair, is being held captive by her father, she sets out to rescue her. But not all goes as planned, and Cecily disappears. Worse, she has dual personalities: a shy, meek girl and a strong-willed young woman. Enola’s famous brother, Sherlock Holmes, is also on the case and is unwilling to listen to what she has to say. Time is running out, can Enola find Cecily before it’s too late?
I’m not usually a fan of Sherlock Homes spinoffs like this, but I really enjoyed this mystery. Enola is similar to Sherlock but isn’t a gender-bent version, she’s also her own person. This isn’t the first book in the series, and Cecily has appeared in a couple of others, but everything important to the mystery is explained well, and the other books don’t need to be read first, aside from a few spoilers from them.
