Dragonshadow: A Heartstone Novel
Dragonshadow is the second book written in the beautiful world that follows the lives of Alastair and Aliza Daired. The counterparts to the beloved Pride & Prejudice by Jane Austen. The fantasy novel brings out all the stops—romance, fighting, and a war that’s only just beginning.
The Daired’s are coming off from a wonderful honeymoon but now it’s time to work. There’s a new mysterious monster that must be put down at once. Along the way, Aliza, Alastair, and Alastair’s dragon, Akarra, go on a long journey to put a stop the danger. What kind of journey would it be if they didn’t almost die a couple hundred times? The story was breathtaking. Absolutely breathtaking. I enjoyed following the lovely couple battle together and grow as characters. White was able to keep me engaged with the story from beginning until the very end. I recommend this book—and series—for those that like fantasy and for Jane Austen fans as well. Everything about the story was rich and romantic.
After editing at City Book Review for a few years, I took up the duties of editorial assistant, which include assigning books for review, posting reviews to our various sites, and nagging reviewers for things. In my non-nagging time, I’m a gamer, artist, writer, and notorious black thumb/bane of plants. My answer to every book-related question: read Octavia Butler.
