Don’t let the cover of this book fool you; inside is a world that will engulf your mind and plunge you into another place and time where you will feel right at home. Different Springs is unlike any book you have ever read. A lawyer, a Holocaust survivor, a gauntlet, a theft, an ancient family, a guarded secret, religious harmony, murder, the Vatican, and history spanning from the Middle Ages of Spain to modern New Orleans will have your head reeling as this fast paced, non-stop action story sucks you in and eats you alive.

Author Kevin Coleman did a stellar job in thoroughly researching his story; from the detailed descriptions of the ancient texts to Pierre Pareeja’s distorted history, every piece of the book fits perfectly together like a puzzle. The story reads fluidly from beginning to end and clearly shows that the author has a thorough knowledge of medieval Spain, al-Andalus, and New Orleans, providing readers with a story that is easy to understand even if they are unfamiliar with the context. The transitions between scenes are flawlessly executed without losing the excitement or the pace of the story, while the story itself covers action, suspense, history, religion, mystery, and even dabbles in romance.

I was hesitant about this book when first picking it up. The premise of the story didn’t catch my attention at first, but in a sense I felt this might be a new take on The DaVinci Code and was beside myself on the smooth writing, the flow of the story, and the perfect balance of character and environment. A book of this size and a story of this nature can be difficult to find that balance, but Coleman seems to make it appear easy. If you are looking for something new and different, this is definitely a book you will want to pick up, and you will be recommending it to your friends in no time.
