Desolation Canyon: A Mystery (The Detective Margaret Nolan Series Book 2)

PJ Tracy’s newest mystery is also the second in the “Margaret Nolan” detective series. Desolation Canyon follows Deep Into the Dark with Nolan, Crawford, Remy, and Sam Easton having a short break between their last murder mystery and current happenings. Nolan and her parents are still grieving the death of her brother, Max, but each in their own ways, and Nolan is also trying to manage her professional and personal feelings toward Remy in the midst of the chaos. Giving in to her personal feelings, she agrees to meet up with Remy for a drink but the date is short-lived when she discovers the body of a well-to-do businessman. A spiritual retreat run by Father Paul and a mother and daughter run-away also finds themselves in the mix.

Desolation Canyon is the right length and contains the perfect formula for keeping the sequel up to par with the original. The reader can feel the emotions running rampant throughout the story and must work hard to figure out the many secrets that are revealed at the end – there are so many! The story reads smooth and heart-pumping and I’m hoping for a trilogy at least with this series.
