Dead Wind (A Shana Merchant Novel, 3)
A Dead Wind is blowing and it’s opposing Detective Shana Merchant’s path. Shana is still tracking her cousin, serial killer Bram Blake, when another murder on one of the nearby islands occurs. A business woman has been killed, just weeks away from receiving sentencing on a corruption charge. At first it seems like it might be Bram, just another one of his games to lure Shana in, but Shana and her partner Tim are discovering that there are some secrets in this small town that people have never really gotten over. Shana will have to find this killer as well as Bram, before he strikes again.
As the third installment in the Shana Merchant series, I thought this was well done but could have been longer. I think the author could have spent more time dealing with the aftermath of the big reveal, but maybe she’s setting it up for another book. Bram and Shana’s relationship is incredibly intriguing. How do you wrap your head around a person like that? I wasn’t sorry to see some characters go. I look forward to what Wegert does next. I think you will too.
