Cooking with Herb: 75 Recipes for the Marley Natural Lifestyle
Few readers will notice that in Cooking with Herb “herb” is singular. Most of us would expect a cookbook helping cooks use herbs. But not so. Author Cedella Marley has only a single herb in mind, cannabis, and throughout the book Herb is capitalized. Every recipe has some cannabis in it. Another feature of this cookbook is that most recipes are based on Jamaican cuisine, and you must have a source of Jamaican ingredients. This is a very beautiful, well-designed, nicely illustrated cookbook but not without problems. Whoever was in charge of recipe layout never tried to cook from a recipe—many recipes are split, inconveniently continuing on overleaf pages in order to keep the photo illustration with the recipe. A detailed introduction gives excellent information on every aspect of cannabis. The first recipes are the basics; how to make cannaoil and cannabutter, the foundation of most recipes to give a THC boost. Marley provides the amount of cannabis per serving in most preparations (five mg per serving that may be boosted up to fifteen mg). Heavy promotion of Marley’s preparations for sale are unwanted. Marley had women readers in mind with extensive beauty product preparations.
