One morning, reporter Allison Decker dies tragically in a mall shooting. The last words she said to her husband, Aaron, that morning were “come with me.” As Aaron is going through her belongings, he finds a receipt for a motel room in a different state. After confirming she wasn’t working on a story for her paper, he sets off on a journey to discover what his wife was hiding from him. Aaron learns that she had many secrets. He’s going to follow the trail all the way, even if he doesn’t like what he finds at the end or if it puts his own life at risk.

If I was going to label this book, I would put it in the thriller with a few supernatural elements genre. It wasn’t horrifying enough to justify placement in the horror genre. It reminded me very much of the Netflix version of The House on Haunted Hill, but even that was scarier than this book. It was still a great read, however, and I would recommend it to those who like the thriller with supernatural elements genre. Expect to be creeped out in some places, but not terrified.
