Come Back to Me by Sara Foster
In Come Back to Me, Chloe and her husband Alex have a dinner appointment with Chloe’s co-worker and ex-boyfriend, Mark. When they arrive at dinner, Mark is with his date, Julia. As soon as Julia and Alex make eye contact, it is obvious that they know one another. Julia is flustered and excuses herself. She disappears for the rest of the dinner.
The premise behind this story is a good one. Alex and Julia have a past, and it unfolds throughout the storytelling. Chloe and Mark are attorneys and work in the same office, and this is another storyline. Although there were plenty of twists and turns, I felt the book moved at a snail’s pace because of all the details in each scene. These details were unnecessary and didn’t add anything to the characters or plot of the book. There were also so many characters in the book that it made it difficult to keep track of who was who. For example, the story about Chloe’s brother and dad had nothing to do with the main story.
Overall, the story was enjoyable but too long and drawn out.
