Chateau of Secrets: A Novel
Hitler’s army has just taken Paris. Normandy isn’t far behind and Gisele Duchant’s home, Chateau d’Epines, proves not to be the safe haven she wished it to be. She is forced to share her family home with the enemy. Yet, it’s far more dangerous than that. Giselle has a secret. Right below their feet, Giselle is harboring French soldiers. If her secret is discovered, it will mean a sure death for them all.
In modern day Virginia, Chloe Sauver needs to get away from it all. The love of her life hurt her in the deepest way and the only way she feels she can recover is to spend some time in her family’s ancestral Normandy home. She soon learns about the chateau’s dangerous and intriguing past and works with filmmaker Riley Holtz to discover what really happened to her grandparents and what secrets lie buried beneath the chateau.
Melanie Dobson’s masterfully written Chateau of Secrets was based on a true story. You’ll be engaged from page one. I loved how Dobson so eloquently switched between past and present to meld the stories of grandmother and granddaughter into something so incredible. Dramatic, powerful, and entirely unforgettable, this book is one that will stay with you. Chateau of Secrets is my favorite summer read of the season!
