Most people who are in any way familiar with Yosemite National Park know that it is one of the most gorgeous places on Earth, especially when one gazes up at the night’s sky, taking in the magnificent firmament above, perhaps getting a wide, city light-free view of the Milky Way. But we can’t always drop everything and take a trip to Yosemite. Thankfully, there are these things called books and sometimes very talented photographers to take incredible photos of these unique places and put them in said books.

As the title indicates, Celestial Yosemite is a small book featuring fantastic photos of Yosemite and its many features juxtaposed with the stars and the black above. The photographer, Kristal Leonard, has lived in Yosemite for over seventeen years and specializes in landscape photography and astrophotograhy; so she clearly knows what she’s doing. Her skill and eye for photography come across in the every image in the book, from small, square, detailed photos to large colorful landscapes that blanket an entire page or spread across two pages. The color, tone, and look of each photograph are done so well that each image is brought to life, taking the viewer to (or perhaps back to) one of the most special places on the planet.
