Catch a Falling Star
Seventeen-year-old Carter Moon loves her quiet, predictable life in her quiet, small town. But her dreams of a low-key summer are dashed when Hollywood arrives, and suddenly the entire town is starry-eyed. Except Carter; she is so unimpressed with lead movie star Adam Jakes that she is the perfect candidate to play his girlfriend while in town, a role she accepts in order to help her family out financially. Despite her initial disdain for Adam, Carter finds herself drawn to him, and before long she is falling for him, and it soon becomes hard to tell which parts of their relationship are real and which are fake. She believes the relationship is doomed from the start, but maybe there’s more hope than she realizes.
Catch a Falling Star is a sweet summer romance that teen girls (and lots of other readers besides) are sure to love. Culbertson has crafted characters that readers will identify with: Carter, with her reluctance to take chances; Adam, with his stormy past and almost desperate to be accepted for something other than his stardom; Chloe, completely starstruck and yet fiercely loyal to her friends; and Alien Drake, cheerful and resolutely unaffected by the Hollywood invasion. This short novel is definitely a winner.
