Bourbon Desserts
A good dessert recipe book is something to be treasured. This is a very good dessert recipe book and those who enjoy that extra something that only a bit of good bourbon can bring to a sweet treat will treasure this book. After a charming and very personal introduction, nine sections follow, offering recipes for everything from cookies and bars to compotes, chutneys, spreads, and preserves, from pies, tarts, cobblers and frozen delights. Imagine peanut butter-chocolate chip cookies with bourbon and bacon, or bourbon-soaked cherry and chocolate chunk ice cream.
Each recipe begins with a little story and a bit of a description. A list of ingredients and easy-to-follow directions finishes each recipe. Scattered throughout are “Bourbon Facts” (Kentucky distillers ship used bourbon barrels to Scotland and Ireland for maturing Scotch and Irish whiskey) and “Kentucky Pluses” (hints to enhance these recipes). Beautiful, mouth-watering, color photographs of many of the recipes will send readers to their kitchens to create these delectable delicacies. With over seventy-five recipes from which to choose, there is certainly something for everyone in this well-written little book.
