Blind Faith: A Novel
Years ago, Father Leary was murdered. Lindsay Keller was one of his students at the Catholic high school, and can’t think of a single reason why he would be murdered. Now, in her fifties, a client turns in Leary’s wallet, reopening the decades-old cold case. Along with Detective Donovan, Lindsay works to uncover Leary’s past to try and discover a motive. What they’ll find will surprise everyone and teach us all that maybe it’s not best to have Blind Faith in those we love.
I found this book to be much better than the author’s first novel. The characters were more complicated, and the story a bit grittier. It was disconcerting at first with the jump between time periods and points of view. I found myself often getting lost in time and having to refer to the chapter title to figure out where I was in the story. Other than that, if you enjoy mysteries that aren’t cut and dried, I think you’ll want to add this to your reading list. You’ll have to look deep to figure out who did it and why.
