Baseball Memories & Dreams
Since 1979, members of the Baseball Hall of Fame have received their signature magazine, Memories & Dreams. Curated by the Hall of Fame staff, this book has collected over sixty carefully chosen articles from that magazine for all baseball fans to enjoy. The articles are arranged into nine chapters — Baseball and American Culture, Artifact Spotlight, Hall of Famers, The African-American Baseball Experience, Legendary Performances, Latino Legacy, Baseball Goes to War, Women in Baseball, and In Their Own Words. The articles are written by some of the best baseball writers in the business, announcers, historians, and some of the biggest stars in the game, such as Johnny Bench, Nolan Ryan, Wade Boggs, and Ichiro Suzuki. It is particularly nice to have sections specific to African-Americans, Latinos, and women in the sport, all of whom have been underrepresented. While this book is marketed as an adult book, baseball fans ages twelve and above who are good readers or don’t mind challenging texts will find a great deal to interest them. The wide variety of topics and writers in this collection will keep readers engaged for a very long time.
