I don’t usually go for prom-night novels, but this one was so sweet.

In a weird turn of events, what should have been a friends-night-out for Heart LaCouer turns out to be a two-sided coin. Literally.

Heart gets to experience two sides of prom when she is invited by two guys; one, with a football player fresh from a breakup hoping for a pity date, and two, a lost friend looking for a cover from the ever-generous Heart. Heart is pulled two ways, so the only thing she can think to do (after consulting her trusted- and sometimes misled and hilarious- friend group)is try to make it to both of the invites. Along the way, she finds out what makes a prom special, and what she really needs in a friend. I loved her voice, and how she reacted to everything- I felt like I was reading a story about myself when she got embarrassed or mad… It felt so real (except for the Magic 8 Ball moments, of course). Overall, I enjoyed this book. A fast read, it is a great find for those of us who believe we are above chick lit… because truthfully, no one is!
