Anatomy of 55 More Songs
I thoroughly enjoyed myself by reminiscing on my favorite “oldies but goodies” and learning new songs within the pages of //Anatomy of 55 More Songs//. Here in the second book in the //Anatomy// series by Wall Street Journalist Marc Myers, fifty-five songs – beginning in 1963 with Dionne Warwick’s “Walk on By” and covering others in between before concluding in 1996 with Sheryl Crow’s “If it Makes You Happy,” are discussed in detail through interviews with singers, writers, and composers to learn more about favorite songs throughout the decades. Each song begins with a brief introduction about it and the artist, followed by brief comments made by the song’s key players.
Music has a way of becoming a major part of people’s lives; for myself, I became giddy when I noticed familiar songs in the book, ones that bring me joy when listening on the radio or other streaming devices. When hearing them again, I am sure they will all sound different to me in the present and I wouldn’t be surprised if they transport me to the past.
