I love having my mom read me stories, especially when driving in the car or before bed. I was excited when she showed me An Illustrated Collection of Fairy Tales for Brave Children because these stories are fun to read and watch on TV. I was surprised that I only knew one of the stories, and my parents only knew two of the many. This surprised me because I thought we would all know more than that.

When my mom was reading them to me, I liked them all; there wasn’t one story that I didn’t like. There were parts of some of the stories that were kind of scary, like when a boy had to visit the devil, a girl had to go to a witch for some fire, and a boy found a mean genie in a bottle. I felt myself getting a little scared at first, but then it went away as the story went on.

I don’t have a favorite fairy tale, but my brother asks to hear “The Three Golden Hairs,” “Hansel and Gretel,” and “Vasilisa” over and over. I believe that you do have to be brave to listen to these fairy tales, but each one is exciting and fun to read.
