Absolutely One Thing: Featuring Charlie and Lola
Join Charlie and Lola while exploring the world of numbers in Absolutely One Thing by Lauren Child. Their mom says the sisters can each pick out one thing at the store. While they are slowly getting ready and then intently shopping, they find tons of things to count. But they don’t only count, they also divide, multiply, add, and subtract so you can see why this book would be good for ages 5-8 and kids that are working on any of these math concepts.
I love the creative collage and drawn illustrations by Lauren Child but my favorite part of all Charlie and Lola books is how the words are spread all over the page. The words in all of Lauren Child’s books are sideways, upside-down, and any other way you can imagine. I have read several Charlie and Lola books and this is the only one that is educational, but it is still silly and very enjoyable.
