A Rage to Conquer: Twelve Battles That Changed the Course of Western History
I selected this book to learn history about twelve famous battles, but I soon discovered that the book was full of opinions without a basis in fact. The author is a regular contributor to Breitbart, which purports to be a news organization but fills social media with conspiracy theories. Breitbart has been described as misogynistic, xenophobic and racist.
Reading this book aligns with that assessment. For example, the author firmly asserts that women are not soldiers and would lose any battle in which they were placed. This assertion is not supported in any way with any documentation or facts. He advises women to get their “thrills” through childbirth. It is the author’s opinion. Take it for what it is.
The thesis is filled with double think; war is good, war can solve problems, war can provide long lasting peace and war is the inevitable nature of man. The author has never been a soldier. His background and training are in music criticism. I selected this book to learn history. Instead, I read fiction and gobbledygook.
