A Girl Walks Into a Wedding: Your Fantasy, Your Rules
When it comes to Choose-Your-Own-Adventure books, most people think of kids’ books, wandering through haunted houses or solving a mystery. But Helena S. Paige has put an intriguing spin on the Choose-Your-Own-Adventure genre, offering readers the chance to navigate the pitfalls of romance and adulthood with A Girl Walks Into a Wedding.
Complete with hookups, emotional high stakes choices, humor, friendship, heartache, and plenty of potential for social awkwardness (as well as a few nude scenes along the way), A Girl Walks Into a Wedding is great fun, following a bridesmaid’s journey from pre-wedding to reception with all the possible disasters and joyful moments along the way.
Now, I realize this wasn’t intended for me as a reader, being a guy and all, but I still thoroughly enjoyed the book. It’s funny and true to life (forgiving a few conveniently awkward coincidences for the sake of storytelling and raucous fun), and offered more choices than I expected. So, whether you fly solo and dance with the DJ or bring a date and ride out the confusing sexual tension with an old friend, you’ll probably enjoy A Girl Walks Into a Wedding more than most weddings you’ll attend.
