Harry has been down in the dumps, between grieving his late wife and fracturing his hip. To pass the time, he uses binoculars to watch his neighbor’s various dramas unfold. When he receives a new caregiver, Emma, he’s grumpy to say the least. But when they find one of his neighbors dead, he is determined to uncover the truth. He didn’t expect Emma to jump on board to take part in the investigation, nor that their nosing around could put them both in the path of a killer.

Such a fun mystery right from the start, with an homage to Rear Window, the mystery is the perfect blend of cheeky and suspense. The story revolves around the neighbors’ affairs, which sets the stage for the hijinks and drama that unfold. This creates the perfect fodder for sleuthing, comedy, and chaotic fun. The unlikely pairing of Harry and Emma is a sweet treat, with elements of found family and genuine friendship discovered along the way. Their odd couple vibe is charming and delightful, as they find unexpected support and guidance from each other’s experiences. A Field Guide to Murder is a highly recommended treat with comedic elements, a fun sleuthing duo, and plenty of hijinks.
