One of the country’s most fearless and exciting performance artists, Finley has been writing, singing, acting, and staging works since the early 1990s that question authority, test boundaries, and speak truth to the powers that seek to victimize and silence. She’s been both awarded and condemned—notably in the 1998 obscenity case, National Endowment for the Arts v. Finley—but never ignored. Her latest book draws on her performance piece Unicorn Gratitude Mystery to expose the psychosexual obsessions underlying American politics. With a cast including Donald Trump, Harvey Weinstein, Hillary and Bill Clinton, Huma Abedin and Anthony Weiner, Finley’s hybrid drama/poetry/prose-rant is as raw and provocative as it is insightful about power, violence, and rage.
