California’s iconic Napa Valley, one of the world’s premier viticultural regions, is known for its undulating vineyards, historic wineries nestled in the trees, and quaint towns that dot the countryside. It is also home to many amazing women who have made names for themselves with wineries and boutique businesses throughout the area. Wine Country Women of Napa Valley celebrates 65 of these leading ladies, showcasing their accomplishments, lifestyles, treasured family recipes, and of course, their favorite wines and pairings.

Hilary Newsom, PlumpJack Group: Hilary Newsom is the President of PlumpJack Group, one of the most established lifestyle and hospitality brands in California. A celebrated business leader and Bay Area philanthropist, Hilary has raised more than $3.8 million for the Cancer Prevention Institute of California (CPIC) through her annual PlumpJack LINK Gold Classic and various cancer awareness campaigns through PlumpJack.

Clarice Turner, Boudin Bakery: Clarice Turner is Chief Executive Officer and Board Director of the Boudin Bakery restaurant group, Boudin SF. She currently serves on the Culinary Institute of America Society of Fellows, the Board for the National Restaurant Association, Advisory Board for Women of the Vine and Spirits, and Advisory Board for the WSU School of Business and School of Hospitality-Wine Business Management program.

Katie Hamilton Shaffer, Feast it Forward: Katie Hamilton Shaffer is a host, entertainer, and philanthropist. She leads Feast it Forward, an online network and lifestyle brand that showcases chefs, actors, tastemakers, and musicians and the causes that inspire them. She is also the co-founder of the Erika Van Giesen Foundation and helped launch Wine, Women, and Shoes—a food and wine based fundraising platform.

Chef Sarah Scott: Sarah Scott is a chef, culinary consultant, and writer. She served as Executive Chief at Robert Mondavi Winery for 14 years from 1993-2006, overseeing and developing the Culinary and Wine and Food programs and traveling extensively as Culinary Ambassador for the winery. In 2010 she co-authored the acclaimed cookbook, The Wild Table: Seasonal Foraged Foods and Recipes, with master forager Connie Green.

Julie Johnson, Tres Sabores: Julie Johnson is the owner and winemaker of Tres Sabores, an organic winery in Rutherford, Napa Valley. She is also the co-founder of Women for WineSense, a premier education and networking organization for wine aficionados and industry professionals, that is committed to offering outstanding educational programs and mentoring and networking opportunities.

Valerie Kelleher Herzog, Brix Restaurant and Gardens: Valerie Kelleher Herzog is owner and overseer of business operations for Brix Restaurant and Gardens in Yountville, California, and Oakville’s Kelleher Family Vineyard. A champion for both great food and fine wine in the region, Valerie has helped establish Brix as a Napa Valley institution since its opening in 1996, offering a true farm-to-table dining experience with ingredients and wine grown right on the property.

Michelle Mandro, founder and president of Wine Country Women, LLC, has worked in the wine industry for a decade, beginning as the executive director of the American Institute of Wine & Food, a national association started by Robert Mondavi and Julia Child. She has also worked for numerous wineries in addition to her work with two Fortune 500 companies as well as a career in television news at the CBS and NBC affiliates in Louisville, KY. Michelle splits her time between California and Kentucky.
