Pegasus Books Downtown welcomes Avery Cassell on Small Business Saturday for a book signing of Resistance: The LGBT Fight Against Fascism in WWII. Avery will also be presenting a coloring workshop featuring printouts from Resistance and the Butch Lesbians Coloring Books. Guest illustrator TBA.

Resistance: The LGBT Fight Against Fascism in WWII is an explosion of lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender resistance during the disruptive and frightening era preceding WWII and during the war. Over 35 forebearers are featured in this book; members of the Resistance, bar owners, musicians, a fashion designer, a school teacher, journalists, students—all found ways of surviving as they battled fascism as it spread like a virus across Europe. The people in Resistance: The LGBT Fight Against Fascism in WWII prove that resistance can take many shapes, from forging identity documents, to writing anti-fascist poetry, to providing shelter to refugees, to flummoxing Nazis with anti-fascist leaflets. The act of resistance is not a one-size-fits-all political activity; we must utilize our unique individual talents to resist in creative ways. Written by Avery Cassell and illustrated by a community of LGBTQ artists, this book is both timely and inspiring.
