Seven Lies is a story about a friendship so close that it becomes toxic. Jane Black has been friends with Marnie Gregory since they were eleven years old. Best friends. As both girls get older and experience romantic love, Jane ends up marrying Jonathan, who she is madly in love with. After a horrible accident, Jonathan is killed and Jane finds her life spiraling out of control. Then Marnie’s husband Charles is found dead after falling down the staircase at their home. But someone out there is suspicious of Jane and thinks she may have had something to do with his demise.

Seven Lies starts out with what seems to be a normal protagonist with normal friends and normal relationships. As Jane reveals to the reader the seven lies she has told her best friend, the book takes on a creepy vibe, one in which the protagonist may not be who or what she seems. The book is written so that it has a diary-like feel to it because Jane often expresses her thoughts to the reader. Seven Lies is a good enough story but it seemed to drag at times and became a bit boring.
