Continuing the story of Lucas and Asha and their children, Paul Tassi again puts them through an epic adventure.

At the end of the last book, our heroes fled the destruction of the Earth, they have fought their way across the galaxy to the Soren empire. Sworn enemies of the Xalan invaders who invaded Earth, they hoped to find sanctuary. Instead, they were captured and assumed to be insane and collaborators with the enemy.

Fortunately, the medical technology of the Sorens quickly reveals that Lucan and Asha were not Soren, despite their appearance. They quickly become celebrities as their story comes out, until one night at a lavish party, when a bomb goes off. Things aren’t quite as peaceful in the empire as they had been told. More, centuries of war against the Xalans had worn down their military. It was only a matter of time before pressures internal and external ended the empire and remove the only safety for the last living humans.

They launch a desperate plan. Hack into the Xalans communications network and reveal the lies and coverups of the Xalan government. But first, they need an expert on the system, and the only one who might be friendly toward them is in hiding on a planet that was a prior conquest of the Xalans.

Again, Tassi delivers a fast-paced action novel that hums along. While nothing deep or straying too far from Sci-Fi standards, he delivers a solid read that is perfect for a quiet weekend.
