He is a certifiable master of horror, having run roughshod over film, television, and literature for decades. And while the cinematic canon of King is hardly as bulletproof as the literary one, it remains an impressive testament to one man’s vision of humanity and what frightens us most.

Stephen King Films FAQ is exhaustive and exhausting, chronicling each film (and TV show, and made-for-TV movie, and remake, and adaptation, and project that never made it to screen) in King’s long, troubled, on-and-off relationship with Hollywood. This is as complete a look at everything King that you’re likely to find anywhere.

Unfortunately, the author pads out the book with a brief history of cinematic horror pre-King, tangential Top 5 lists, and other content meant to add color but that simply proves obtrusive. (The only one that doesn’t offend is the intriguing look at ABC’s hit show Lost through the lens of King’s The Stand.)

In the end, Stephen King Films FAQ is exactly that, your one-stop shop to answer any question you could possibly have about King adaptations (and plenty of questions it never occurred to you to ask).
