Prince Preemie: A Tale of a Tiny Puppy Who Arrives Early, by the author Jewel Kats, tells the story of the birth of Prince Preemie, a puppy born too early to the King and Queen of Puppy Kingdom. Because of the early birth, the special crown that is being made for Preemie is not ready, and everyone worries how they can call him a prince without a crown. While Preemie and the Queen have to stay at the hospital until he is stronger, the King comes up with a clever idea to solve the problem of the missing crown.

This is a delightful trip into a magical world called Puppy Kingdom. The illustrator, Claudia Marie Lenart, has done an incredible job with her fiber art to bring this story to life. Any young reader will fall in love with this make-believe world and the wonderful characters. It’s a clever idea meant to create something a little different, which is bound to appeal to the target age of the reader. Prince Preemie will no doubt have lots of adventures as he grows. A great concept.
