Pedro: First-Grade Hero

Pedro: First Grade Hero is an easy reader collection of four stories about Pedro. He is joined in some of the stories by his classmate Katie Woo, who has her own series of books. In this book, Pedro’s teacher assigns a project on insects that leads Pedro on an adventure with bugs. Pedro learns the value of practice when his soccer coach announces try-outs for goalie. He starts a mystery club in his tree house with his friends, Katie and Jojo. In the final story, Pedro learns about the election process when he runs for first grade president against his friend Katie.

Each story is twenty pages long and contains lovely full-color illustrations on each page. Most pages contain two or three sentences, which is manageable and inviting for young readers.

The stories are fast-paced, fun, and appealing to young children who are beginning to read on their own. This is an excellent choice for new readers.
